WEEKLY MEDITATION

The joy and elation we see in the Acts, and even in Revelation, come from people who had found the way to believe in God unconditionally. Their fears were still very real. People in their lives were still sick. They were still persecuted, but their choice to believe anyway made a difference. Peter's shadow was enough to heal people. This is fantastic! It is Scripture's way of telling us that Peter's own doubt, cowardice, and lack of faith didn't prevent him from coming back to the Lord.
The faith that brought him back changed not only his life, but also the lives of those who were near him. Easter calls us to give in to our yearning for God. We may never fully understand, and life in this world will never be perfect, but faith does make a difference. We must avoid placing conditions on God. If we can just let God be God, and trust Him unconditionally despite reasons not to, the peace Jesus offers can be ours. With Jesus all things are possible!

EXHIBIT Today after mass you will have the opportunity to view the artwork of Susan Brcich Bruno on the 2nd floor of the Small Hall. The exhibit will be open until 5p.m.

CONCERT Cardinal Stepinac Croatian School is organizing a concert featuring the famous Croatian singer from Split, Vinko Coce, accompanied by Mario and David, on Saturday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. in our Parish Hall. Tickets are $20 per person and can be obtained from all members of the Croatian School board and at the rectory. All are invited to this beautiful spring event.

MOTHER'S DAY Cardinal Stepinac Croatian School is preparing a luncheon and program on Mother's Day, May 11, after the 11a.m. Mass. Following the luncheon, the Croatian School children will honor their mothers with a special program. Cost: $25 for adults; $10 for children under 12. Tickets are available from school board members and at the rectory.

CROATIAN AMERICAN ASSOCIATION will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, May 1, in St. Jerome's small hall beginning at 7p.m. All members and friends of the organization are invited to attend.

ORDINATION On Wednesday, May 21, at 6p.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 4 Croatian Franciscans will be ordained to the priesthood. Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, Monsignor Josip Mrzljak, will preside. Please plan to attend this special ceremony, which is a rare and holy event for the entire Croatian community of Chicago.
