PROSLAVA VELIKE GOSPE ove godine je u srijedu 15. kolovoza. Slavlje ćemo započeti tradicionalnom devetnicom koja počinje u ponedjeljak 6. kolovoza u 7 sati navečer i traje do utorka 14. kolovoza. Svete mise radnim danom su u 7:00, subotom u 5:30, a nedjeljom u 6 sati navečer. Prije sv. mise moliti ćemo krunicu.

Na sam dan Velike Gospe, prije svečane sv. Mise bit će procesija ulicama oko crkve.

Dragi župljani, Vaša pomoć nam je potrebna. Uključite se u sve akcije za rad i pomoć. S Božjom pomoći, i vašom zauzetošću, ljubavlju, radom i žrtvom , vjerujemo u uspjeh.

Idućeg tjedna dobit ćete pismo s rasporedom za Veliku Gospu, dvije karte za velike nagrade i omotnicu, Moj dar za Veliku Gospu.

Kroz sve prošle godine u hrvatskoj župi sv. Jeronima, slavlje Velike Gospe glavno je duhovno i radno okupljanje u našoj župi. Vjerujemo da će tako biti i ove godine.

Dragi župljani, unaprijed Vam hvala za svaku vašu pomoć.

HODOČAŠĆE NA HOLY HILL bit će u subotu 25. kolovoza. Sveta Misa je u 11 sati ujutro a Put križa i blagoslov je u 2:30 poslije podne. Ovo je tradicionalno hodočašće, pa bilo bi lijepo, dragi župljani, da pođete na taj molitveni susret izvan svoga grada, pomoliti se i susresti druge osobe u tom lijepom svetištu na Holy Hill-u u Wisconsin-u.

MAJČINO SRCE OPRAŠTA I NEOPROŠTENO

Majka odgaja sina. Sama, jer je ostala udovica. Sin je postao velik. Dostignuo je zrelu dob i otišao od kuće. Majka ga čeka svakoga dana da se vrati. Ali sina nema, pa nema. Što se s njim dogodilo Sin je upao u skupinu zločestih ljudi te postao jednak njima. Oni su pak, prije nego postane ravnopravan član bande, od njega tražili iskazivanje vjernosti: mora im donijeti srce svoje vlastite majke. Sin, ošamućen, vraća se majci. Majka ga ugleda i poleti mu ususret, a on silinom noža vadi majčino srce i bježi. U bijegu noga mu se spotakne o kamen; on posrne, a srce mu ispadne iz ruke. Ali majčino je srce još bilo mlako, i sin iz njega očuje majčin glas koji je sa zabrinutošću pitao: "Sine moj, jesi li se ozlijedio, jesi li sebi zlo učinio?"

NOTE from the PRINCIPAL

St. Jerome School is looking for parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles to take a few moments of their time and help educate our students through the example of service to others. Jesus calls each of us by name to help those in need. Our school needs your help. Volunteers are needed in the areas of Lunch Supervisors, Playground Supervisors, Teacher Aides, and Office Aides. The more help we get, the better our school will be. If you have any questions or want to sign up, please call the school office and ask for Mr. Peter Trumblay.

DINNER - FASHION SHOW at the MARTINIQUE

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 26^th when St. Jerome will host its annual Dinner and Fashion Show at the Martinique in Evergreen Park. This event is a long-standing tradition, spanning 5 decades, and is an evening filled with fun! Tickets will be on sale August 1^st and will cost $29.00. The price includes an entertaining fashion show by That Girl Boutique, dinner, and open bar, so please plan on joining us. The following note was received from Fr. Philip Phiri, missionary priest of the St. Patrick Fathers, who recently visited our parish to make an appeal.

I am greeting you most sincerely. This card comes to you as an expression of my sincere, deep, and profound thanks to you and to your congregation for your welcome and support you accorded me whilst I was there last weekend. THE FAITHFUL SOUL

I will listen to what the Lord God will say to me. (Psalm 85:9) Blessed is the soul that listens when the Lord speaks to it (I Sam.3:9) and receives consoling words from His lips.

Blessed are the ears that are attuned to God=s quiet whisper and ignore the world=s raucous sounds. Blessed, indeed, are the ears that disregard the noises outside and wholly attend to the voice teaching truth within.

Blessed are the eyes that are closed to the outer world and are fixed on interior things. Blessed are they who discover these inward realities and try to prepare themselves by daily prayerful exercises to better understand the secrets of heaven.

Blessed are they who are wholly occupied with God and have shaken off the manacles of the world.

My soul, pay attention to these matters and close tightly the doors of your senses so that you may only hear what the Lord speaks to you.

Thus says your Beloved: AI am your salvation, (Ps. 35:3) your peace, and your life. Keep close to Me and you shall find peace.@ Do not waste your time on temporal things but seek those that are eternal. What are temporal things if not deceitful illusions? Furthermore, what good are all creatures if the Creator has forsaken you? Once you have set aside all earthly things, make yourself pleasing to your Creator and be faithful to Him so that you may arrive at true happiness.
