PONIZNOST

Krist uči poniznosti, toj divnoj kreposti koja se bori protiv vlastita egoizma. Svaki čovjek želi čuti hvalu, svatko želi o sebi čuti nešto lijepo... dio je to naravi, dio života, dio puta...ali kada to postane prva i glavna stvarnost naše svagdašnjice, onda uistinu imamo problema s krepošću poniznosti. I divno to kaza pjesnik: Ukorih srce svoje sedam puta:

Prvi put: kad se kušah dočepati visokog položaja izrabljujući slabije.

Drugi put: kad se pretvarah da sam hrom pred onima koji bijahu obogaljeni.

Treći put: kad, pošto mi bijaše dano da biram, radije izabrah lagano nego teško.

Četvrti put: kad sam, pogriješivši, tješio sam sebe pogreškama drugih.

Peti put: kad bijah poslušan iz straha tvrdeći da sam jak u strpljenju.

Šesti put: kad odizah halju svoju da bih izbjegao glib života.

Sedmi put: Kad pjevah hvalospjeve Bogu i mišljah da je pjevanje vrlina.

Poniznost jest majka mudrosti ona je izvor unutrašnje radosti.... Ona je mir, mir, pravi mir!!!

POČETAK HRVATSKE ŠKOLE

- Hrvatska škola počinje novu školsku godinu u subotu 8. rujna u 9 sati ujutro.

- Tamburica počinje u nedjelju 10. rujna u 5 sati poslije podne.

- Vjeronauk počinje iste nedjelje.

PIKNIK ŠKOLE

U subotu 25 .kolovoza ., hrvatska škola "Kardinal Alojzije Stepinac" održala je svoj piknik u Lemontu. Ovdje možete vidjeti nekoliko uspjelijih fotografija s toga kišnog, ali vrlo uspjelog piknika. - Slike s piknika.

KAZALIŠTE IZ ZAGREBA - Pod pokroviteljstvom naše Župe i Hrv. škole "Kardinal Stepinac" stiže iz Zagreba kazalište s predstavom "Predstava Hamleta u selu Mrduša Donja". Ova vrlo poznata komedija dolazi nam s najboljom postavom hrvatskih glumaca: Ivana Brkić, Danko Ljuština, Ivo Gregurević, Špiro Guberina, Vedran Mlikota, Lidija Begonja i drugi. Predstava će se održati u petak 21. rujna u Auditoriumu Healy School. (3000 S. Wallace St, samo 4 bloka od Župe sv. Jeronima). Ulaznice su $20.00 za odrasle. Možete ih dobiti poslije mise u našoj dvorani. Dodjite i bit će puno smijeha.

"Humble Yourself"...

Today we see that Jesus loves those who are lowly. That is, those who are low because of their sin, not because society says they are not worthy. Jesus has come to invite all those who are willing to truly examine themselves and to know who they are, to join Him at a wonderful banquet. If you humble yourself so as to truly understand who you are, you will be exalted. It is when we realize that we are children of the Most High God, and we are God=s beloved creation, that we begin to comprehend who we really are. Jesus also challenges the host to invite those who cannot possibly repay the kindness. Throw open the doors to your home, invite impartially, and your feast will be wonderful. If you only invite those who can repay, they will say to each other: "He only invited us because we are to return the gesture." In this manner there is no feast; there is no celebration. After all, who among us is worthy of the Father=s invitation? We can do nothing to deserve or repay His invitation, yet it is through God's love that we are always invited, always welcomed. Jesus echoes this lesson in the first reading from Sirach: "My child, conduct your affairs with humility and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts. Humble yourself all the more and you will find favor with God." The way of living that we are called to model is to be gentle in how we live our lives - from work...to family...to everyday events. In essence, we are asked to take into consideration all people with whom we come into contact.

CCD Registration

Registration for CCD (religion) classes in our parish will be next Sunday, September 2^nd from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. in our School Hall. Annual tuition: one student $60.00; two or more students $85.00. There is a $10.00 per student book fee.

Theater Group from Zagreb

Under the sponsorship of our parish and Cardinal Stepinac Croatian School, a play, the popular Croatian comedy Hamlet, A little Village Show, will be performed by a troupe of well-known Croatian actors. The story takes place in the rocky village of Lower Mrdusa where all the villagers are rehearsing Shakespeare's Hamlet to celebrate the anniversary of the president's election. Amusing and grotesque, Hamlet becomes a folk drama revealing the true nature of its real-life cast. The performance will be held on Friday, September 21, in the auditorium of Healy School (3000 S. Wallace) at 8 P.M. Adult admission is $20.00. Tickets can be purchased at the rectory.

St. Jerome Annual Dinner & Fashion Show - Tickets are now on sale for this year's Dinner & Fashion Show to be held at the Martinique Banquet Hall on Wednesday, September 26^th. Tickets are $29 and include a delicious meal, open bar, and a look at this year's fall fashions. This event is a long-standing one that has spanned 4 decades. Message from the Principal

The St Jerome Sport's Association is looking for coaches for volleyball and soccer. If you are interested or know somebody who might be interested please call the school office. There will be a meeting on Thursday, September 6, 2001 in the parish hall to discuss the different teams for this year, fund-raising, and plans for the entire school year. The meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M. This meeting will be mandatory for all parents whose children play sports at St. Jerome.

In Memoriam - The Old Neighborhood Italian American Club will be hosting its annual Memorial Mass on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at 3:00 P.M. in the banquet room..The mass is in honor of all the deceased members of the ONIAC and its Women's Alliance. Refreshments will be served after the mass.
